About the club
Barton Town Cricket Club was formed in 1849 and is the oldest sporting institution in Barton Upon Humber. The Club moved to its present Marsh Lane ground in the early 1920's and although there are no records of where the club used to play, scorebooks from the early days confirm the existence of the club. (more research is being done on the subject as I speak) No one quite knows how many teams the club operated in its early days but at the present time the club operates two seniors teams, which play on Saturdays. The club also operates a friendly XI when fixtures allow. The club also operates four junior sides, U11's, U13's, and U15's. The two Saturday teams operate in the Lincolnshire League. The junior teams play in the Scunthorpe and District Junior Leagues. In recent years the club has also ventured into the overseas market and brought in some players. First of all in 2003 saw Kane Arendarcikas (Australia) come and play, 2004 saw Grant Lewis (Australia), 2005 was Dean Carroll and Steve Ellis (Australia), 2006 Samuel Felix (West Indies), 2007 2008 we had the company of Scott Hanna (Australia), in 2010 Simon McInerney (Australia), 2011 Reece Ogle (Australia) and another Aussie for 2012 Adam McDermott All of whom have brought something to the club to take it forward.
